The Paradise Called Texas

1. My favorite part of The Paradise Called Texas was when Mina, Mama, and Papa traveled from Linden to  Galveston. They were on a vast ship for 15 months. During their long trip they met another family. This family was the Kaufman’s. In their family was Anna, Frau Kaufman, and Herr Kaufman. While they were in a ship there was a really big storm that lasted for about 6 months. One morning when Mina and Anna were out on the ships’s deck after the storm was over they 3 dolphins spring out of the water. When they finally reached Galveston, Papa bought a gun to protect his family.

2. In the Paradise Called Texas my favorite character was the Shaman because he healed Papa. Papa had come home to suprise Mina with a milking cow. When Papa had got home he was very tired and hot, so he went to rest. The next day he was even worse so at supper time Mina went and got Dr. Schuman. He came over and checked on Papa and said that Papa had a very bad fever. A few nights later Mina had a dream about the Shaman. The next morning Mina went and Tante Lisette and told her her dream. So Lisette  came over and watched over Papa while Mina went and got the medicine man. A few hours later Mina was back with the Shaman and Chief Custaleta. The Shaman pulled out 5 things from his pocket. Then he put some leaves into hot tea. Papa drank this and a few days later he was perfect.

The Best Gift

The best gift I ever got was when I heard the Christmas Story. It all started the Saturday before Christmas. Before we started to open presents at my Great-Grandparents my Papaw told us the Christmas Story. It had really touched my heart. After that I knew there was no better gift you could receive.
